“I never had a formulaic view that commerce and culture are different things. I remember Björk (Icelandic singer, composer and musician. – Ed.) told me that her songs are like carpentry: one of her friends in Iceland makes chairs. Are these chairs more beautiful or more useful than songs? Well, it depends on the chair or the song,” Bono (Paul David Huston, U2 vocalist) said.
On the second line is the group Coldplay. The British musicians have earned $115 million this year. In total, their two-year A Head Full Of Dreams tour, which spanned five continents, brought the band about half a billion dollars.
Closes the top three is another Briton – 27-year-old Ed Sheeran, who earned $110 million. The top 10 also includes Bruno Mars ($100), Katy Perry ($83), Taylor Swift ($80), Jay-Z ($76.5), Guns N’Roses ($71), Roger Waters ($68), Diddy ($64).
Overall, the top 10 highest-paid performers earned $886 million this year, about the same amount received by the top 10 last year. However, the composition of the top 10 has changed. In particular, Diddy ($110), Beyoncé ($105) and Drake ($94) occupied the first positions in the 2017 list.
