US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross may be removed from the Forbes list of billionaires. As the publication found out, an official from the team of President Donald Trump overestimated his fortune by $ 2 billion.
Journalists studied Ross’s fortune for a month and came to the conclusion that $2 billion of the $3.5 billion indicated by the minister in 2015 and $3.7 billion in 2016 never existed.
In return, Ross claimed to have given $2 billion to his family’s trust. However, relatives denied this information.
Now the US Secretary of Commerce is facing exclusion from the rankings.
Notably, Ross’s inflated fortune was larger than US President Donald Trump’s. According to Forbes, the head of state lost $600 million over the year and dropped to 248th place in the list of the richest Americans from $3.1 billion, networthrating.com reported.
Wilbur Rossi, 78, owns financial company WL Ross. He built his business on buying up bankrupt enterprises.
