“According to Forbes magazine, Beijing has displaced New York from the first place in the world in terms of the number of billionaires living in the city. China is “hitting” the United States in their own “billionaire” territory,” he wrote on his Telegram channel on Thursday, April 8.
Pushkov also described the situation with a phrase from a character from the movie Brother. He cited as an example the words of Sergei Bodrov, who played Danila Bagrov: “And in general, your America will soon be kirdyk.”
Earlier, on April 6, Forbes magazine published the 35th annual ranking of the richest people.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos came first with $177 billion, followed by American entrepreneur Elon Musk (up to $151 billion), and third place went to Bernard Arnault, who oversees an empire of 70 brands including Louis Vuitton and Sephora ($150 billion).
At the same time, according to the list, Beijing became the first in terms of the number of billionaires living in the city, followed by New York, Moscow was in fourth place. Hong Kong ranked third.
On the same day, it was noted that the founder of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov ($17.2 billion) entered the top 10 billionaires from Russia according to Forbes for the first time. In the Forbes world ranking, Durov rose to 112th place.
