The leader of the rating, as in the previous year, was the United Kingdom, whose position was not affected by the imminent exit from the European Union. The second place was taken by Sweden, the third – by Hong Kong. The top ten also included the Netherlands, New Zealand, Canada, Denmark, Singapore, Australia and Switzerland.

The United States, which ranked 11th last year, is now in 17th position. China was in 49th place. The last five places were taken by Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, the Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic.

On December 12, it was reported that James Patterson was recognized as the highest paid writer of 2018 according to Forbes magazine – he managed to earn $ 86 million. A list of 11 authors was published on the publication’s website.
