Vitalik Buterin was born in Kolomna, Moscow Region, in 1994. He later moved to Canada with his family and grew up in Toronto. In 2014, Buterin received an award from the famous venture capitalist Peter Thiel, which allowed him to focus on studying the Bitcoin cryptocurrency network, and a year later to launch his own Ethereum blockchain platform.
