The leader of the list of the richest Americans Forbes changed for the first time in 24 years

For the first time since 1994, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates lost leadership in the Forbes 400 list of the richest Americans. The first place was taken by Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos.

According to Forbes, Bezos’ capital increased by $78.5 billion over the year and reached $160 billion. For the first time in the history of the rating, the fortune of one of the participants exceeded $100 billion.

By a wide margin, Gates finished in second place. His fortune was estimated at $97 billion. Entrepreneur and investor Warren Buffett was third on the list with a fortune of $88.3 billion.

The top five also included Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg with $61 billion and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison with $58.4 billion.

The total fortune of Forbes 400 participants has grown to a record $2.9 trillion, writes RBC.

Earlier, on October 3, it was reported that US President Donald Trump dropped 138 positions in the list of 400 richest people in the United States.
